Traveling Construction Superintendent - Commercial GC - Base Salary to 130k/year - Atlanta, GA
Job Description
- Our client is a family-owned GC that takes on projects nationwide, usually Eastern US (based in Columbus, OH). They work largely in big box retail, performing sitework, ground up, and renovation work on projects worth up to 20 million. They have been in business since 1977, and pride themselves on their repeat work earned and their collaborative working culture.
- In this role, the Traveling Construction Superintendent will be working on retail construction sites throughout the US. The Traveling Construction Superintendent will be responsible for bringing a project out of the ground through completion, including both building and sitework. The ideal candidate will possess experience with ground up experience in big box retail, who can actively manage subs and communicate smoothly between owners, Project Managers, and other project team members.
- Directly oversee ground up big box retail projects across the US, from sitework to building to closeout
- Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, specs, etc.
- Coordinate and manage all work on site. Schedule, direct, and layout all subcontractors and tradespeople
- Review and approve drawings
- Respond to subcontractor RFIs
- Ensure job site safety
- Demand a high level of quality from all workers on site, oversee work in the field
- Maintain open communication with PMs, subcontractors, project team members, and owners
- Schedule inspections by building officials and consultants
- Document all processes and activities appropriately
- Travel to job sites for projects lasting 4 – 12 months (home every other weekend)
- 4+ years commercial GC experience required, big box retail preferred
- Sitework and building experience, ground up required
- Must be able to work full time anywhere in the US, for 4 – 12 month projects
- Proficiency with Excel required, Procore preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications for each project
- Experience building relationships with subcontractors and clients
- Ability to communicate well and coordinate with PMs, owners, and other project team members
- Base salary to 130k/year
