Structural Engineer – Steel Buildings – Base Salary to 120k/year – Troy, MI
- Our client who has been in business over a century is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team in Troy, MI.
- As a Structural Engineer focused on steel modular buildings, your role is to design, analyze, and ensure the structural integrity of these innovative structures. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, perform structural analyses, adhere to building codes and standards, and select materials for cost-effective and safe construction. Your work will support the development of cutting-edge modular buildings, contributing to their sustainability and quality, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Structural Analysis: Perform structural analysis and calculations using software tools and manual methods to determine the load-bearing capacity and stability of steel modular buildings.
- Design Development: Collaborate with architects, designers, and other engineers to develop innovative and efficient structural solutions for modular building projects.
- Code Compliance: Ensure that all designs meet relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards, including but not limited to IBC, ASCE, and AISC.
- Material Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate materials and construction techniques for steel modular building projects, considering both performance and cost-efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of design plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Construction Support: Provide technical support during the construction phase, including responding to RFI's, conducting site inspections, and addressing structural issues as they arise.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall building plans.
- Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in modular construction and steel engineering to propose and implement innovative design solutions.
- Project Management: Manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget constraints.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Michigan or the ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on steel construction and modular buildings preferred.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of steel design codes, including AISC standards.
