Senior Electrical Engineer - Solar – Base Salary to 140k/year – Marietta, GA

  • Our client, a top-tier solar company nationally recognized as an industry pioneer in fostering technical innovation, is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Marietta, GA. This company plays a pivotal role in promoting and expediting the transition to clean energy, earning numerous awards for their achievements in innovation and renewable energy. 

  • In this role, the Senior Electrical Engineer will oversee the development of engineering design plans for large-scale solar projects, conduct intricate electrical calculations following NEC standards, guide the engineering team with the day-to-day design work, and collaborate with CAD designers in the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Design rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV system projects ranging from 1MW+ to 50MW, with an emphasis on electrical engineering, equipment layouts/specifications, and interconnection aspects.

  • Create AutoCAD plan sets for engineering, incorporating site layouts, electrical 1-line diagrams, equipment elevations, grounding details, equipment labeling, and all essential details to streamline the permitting approval process efficiently.

  • Conduct a grounding study and perform AC & DC electrical calculations, including load flow, short circuit, and voltage drop analyses. Additionally, perform equipment sizing calculations for KAIC rating, battery sizing, and bus & cable sizing.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary design and electrical teams to develop construction-specific IFC plansets, integrating design elements from civil, electrical, structural, and geotechnical aspects, as well as incorporating inputs from landscape architects and other third-party electrical design resources.

  • Verify that all electrical designs and applications adhere to NEC, utility regulations, and AHJ code requirements.

  • Lead field visits to determine solar feasibility and interconnection strategy 

  • Work with Procurement and the internal electrical team to produce accurate electrical-related Bill of Materials (BOM)  

  • Review design drawings produced by junior project engineer(s) and train them on industry standards and technical specifications 

  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering, Project Managers, and the Business Development team to achieve timely deliverables, enhance processes, and implement value-engineering-based designs.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree a plus  

  • 6+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in construction field

  • 4+ years of solar engineering experience

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certified. PE license is a plus 

  • NABCEP certification required 

  • Be a subject matter expert in solar layout design, stringing calculations, conductor sizing, PV system equipment selection and system grounding principles  

  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard software, including PVSyst, 5+ years of AutoCAD experience, and other applicable industry software, as well as MS Office suite 

Compensation:

  • Base salary to 140k/year
