Senior Construction Project Manager - Heavy Civil and Utility Construction - Base Salary to 215k/year - Staten Island, NY
- Our client is a heavy civil contractor that takes on utility, concrete, and sitework projects throughout the New York metropolitan area. Projects range from a few million up to 140 million, and can encompass street construction, pier restoration, utility replacement, shore protection, substation work, stormwater infrastructure, etc.
- In this role, the Senior Construction Project Manager will be responsible for managing the entire construction process for specific projects, from obtaining permits to finalizing punch lists. Currently they’ re in the middle of a multi-year USACE shore restoration project on Staten Island’ s South Shore and need a Senior Construction Project Manager who has direct experience on USACE projects. Should also be familiar with NYC agencies and union labor oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire construction process for specific projects, from obtaining permits to finalizing punch lists
- Ensure smooth project execution, delivering exceptional results while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and safety
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of heavy civil construction contracts, including revenue, safety, risk management, scheduling, and compliance with contract drawings and specifications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders) to achieve project milestones on time and within budget
- Conduct project meetings to facilitate effective communication and resolve issues among team members
- Prepare and review project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project specifications
- Monitor construction progress, conduct regular site visits, and provide accurate reports on project status, issues, and recommended actions
- Maintain project files, logs (including payment, permits, RFIs, change order submittals, POs, etc.), and drawings
- Prepare cost-to-complete reports, labor reports, cost analyses, and budgets
- Monitor field construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
- Record work quantities performed by subcontractors and reconciled these quantities with the subcontractor and owner's representative
- Stay updated with industry trends, construction methodologies, and regulations to contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes
- Adapt to changing job responsibilities to align with project and organizational needs
Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in heavy civil construction as a Project Manager
- Direct experience on USACE projects
- Experience with stormwater infrastructure and large drainage system construction
- Experience working with NYC agency processes and union labor oversight
- Proficient in HCSS, Excel, and Primavera P6 or MS Projects
- Bachelor’ s degree in civil engineering, or equivalent experience
- Ability to work in the field in Staten Island, with some office visits to the Bronx headquarters
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 185k - 215k/year range
