Senior Construction Estimator - Heavy Civil and Utility Construction - Base Salary to 220k/year - Bronx, NY

• Our client is a heavy civil contractor that takes on utility, concrete, and sitework projects throughout the New York metropolitan area. Projects can encompass street construction, pier restoration, utility replacement, shore protection, substation work, and other public and private civil projects.
• In this role, the Senior Construction Estimator will be evaluating the scope of projects and developing a financial summary that stays within the budget and scheduled time frame. The Senior Construction Estimator will work closely with designers and engineers to create estimates, and will be involved in take-offs, weekly bid schedules, client and contract negotiations, and preparation of all price breakdowns. Extensive civil experience in the NYC metro is critical to success in this position.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in preparing work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
• Interface daily with junior and senior team members to build estimates and seek new bid opportunities
• Complete estimates for civil and utilities projects in New York City
• Oversee and review the work of other Estimators
• Follow all project specifications and standards to secure estimate accuracy
• Interface with vendors and clients, review scopes and negotiate the best price outcome for estimates
• Attend any required site visits and meetings needed prior to bid submission
• Attend all management meetings to meet productivity
• Assist in meeting the goals of bid cost vs actual job cost and work with the team to meet job margins
• Create estimates for all necessary insurance considerations
• Maintain client confidentiality

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or similar preferred
• 8+ years in civil construction Estimating required
• Leadership experience in Estimating strongly preferred
• Experience performing takeoffs and/or helping prepare bids required
• Experience in Operations / Construction Management preferred
• Expert knowledge in both private sector and NYC municipalities required
• Experience in DOT, MTA, DDC and different aspects of heavy civil construction such as utility, concrete, structural steel, etc.
• Proficiency with Excel and construction management/estimating software, ideally HCSS and MS Project
• Must be able to work full time in the Bronx office (Hunts Point area), with occasional travel for site walks

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 150k – 220k/year range
