Senior Civil Engineer – Construction – Base Salary to 120k/year – South Bend, IN

• Our client is a full-service consulting firm with a dynamic team of more than 170 professionals. They analyze, advise, design, and deliver successful projects in partnership with government, commercial, educational, and energy organizations throughout the Great Lakes region. Founded in 1946, their firm has eight locations, including Allegan, Benton Harbor, Hastings, Kalamazoo, Royal Oak, and Southgate, Michigan, as well as Plymouth and South Bend, Indiana.
• The Senior Civil Engineer will provide design and plan production for general civil design on a wide variety of projects which may include site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities.

Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering calculations in support of civil engineering design projects.
• Manage projects including client communications, public input and feedback, and internal support.
• Perform AutoCAD Civil 3D design/drafting in support of civil engineering design projects.
• Performs, trains, and provides guidance for site investigations, survey work, CAD work, and data collection.
• Prepares, provides training, provides guidance, and reviews engineering designs and reports which includes design calculations and plan preparation.
• Performs, provides training for, and guides quality assurance, ensuring projects get carried out as designed and recommend modifications as needed.
• Ability to identify engineering and surveying services needed by the client and the ability to draft proposals and estimate fees.
• Coordinate with government agencies, client staff, and other professionals to obtain design information and approvals.
• Write and edit construction specifications and engineering reports.
• Tabulate bid items and calculate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications.
• Estimate construction costs.
• Conduct periodic visits to construction sites to monitor the quality and progress of the work.
• Knowledge of financing and funding including public and private sources.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
• PE licensure in Michigan.
• 10+ years of experience managing site development and land transformation.
• 10+ years of experience in A/E/C industry with record of client retention/ attraction.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D
