Safety Manager - Manufacturing - Base Salary to 140k/year - Chicago, IL
- Our client, a Plastics Manufacturer is seeking a Safety Manager for their onsite team in Chicago, IL
- The Safety Manager is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's environmental, health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the planning, execution, monitoring and continuous improvement of environmental health and safety programs.
- Designs and implements overall safety guidelines and procedures.
- Inspects all facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
- Works with Engineering, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure training content reflects what is required to build high-quality products with a strong focus on safety.
- Ensures scheduled training classes are attended and conducted with all associate training tracked and current quarterly.
- Develop and implement adverse event binders as part of adverse events.
- Partner with company and stakeholder leadership and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) regarding the interpretation of federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings and corrective actions.
- Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
- Submit accurate reporting forms to states or departments requiring annually.
- Maintain OSHA logs for past 5 years along with following up and closing incidents.
- Track adverse trends and develop corrective actions for improvement.
- Maintain evacuation maps, fire extinguisher, AED, eye wash & first aid cabinets.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive of the training team.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Thorough understanding of training processes and ability to lead.
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- Bachelor’ s degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required, master’ s degree desirable.
- 5+ years of experience
Compensation:
- Base salary to 140k/year
