Purchasing Specialist - Life Sciences Supplier - Base Salary to 65k/year - Rockville, MD

• Our client is a "one stop shop" for all laboratory, pharma, and industrial supply needs who ships both domestically and internationally to life sciences and manufacturers.
  
• The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for identifying and securing new suppliers/vendors for the company. The Purchasing Specialist will assist with executing the purchase transaction from end to end and assist with calculating total costs. This role is an in-office opportunity with working hours of 8: 30am - 5: 30pm, Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities:

• Understanding fundamentals of strategic sourcing
  
• Obtaining quotes from various suppliers/vendors
  
• Negotiating shipping rates
  
• Build relationships with key suppliers and vendors
  
• Market research as needed to fully understand type of product that is needed and/or international market shifts

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
  
• 1+ year working in strategic sourcing or purchasing role
  
• International shipping/sourcing/purchasing is required
  
• Robust understanding of basic fundamentals of sourcing and executing purchase transactions from start to finish
  
• Experience with identifying suppliers based on customer demand
  
• Must know international shipping jargon
  
• Familiar with MS Office

Compensation:

• Base salary up to 65k/year plus bonus. Our client also offers a comprehensive benefits package.
