Project Engineer – Mineral Manufacturing Plant – Base Salary to 115k/year plus Bonus – Memphis, TN

  • Our client is a Major U.S. Public Manufacturing Company in the minerals industry with a history over 80 years. They are seeking a Project Engineer (internally titled Mechanical Capital Project Engineer) to join it’s corporate Capital Engineering team and serve as a site dedicated Project Manager at one of its manufacturing sites near Memphis, TN.

  • Manage about 10 Capital projects at a time ranging from 10k – 5M. Average project sizes include 100k – 1M.
  • Base to 115k + up to 15 percent Bonus + 6 percent 401k match

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to a Corporate Capital Engineering Manager.
  • Manage about 10 Capital projects at a time ranging from 10k – 5M. Average project sizes include 100k – 1M.
  • Manage and deliver capital projects to scope, budget and timeline
  • Manage and deliver Cash Flow forecast to maintain the regional Capital budget
  • Provide leadership and project management skills to successfully implement projects in a cost effective, timely manner with quality results
  • Plan and manage equipment start-up and commissioning activities.
  • Full-Life Cycle Project Management
    • Develop Project Scopes
    • Assess Plant Objectives
    • Estimate Cost Savings
    • Develop and Define Project Scopes
    • Send out RFQ’s (Requests for Quotes)
    • Research new equipment
    • Fully estimate project costs
    • Submit for approval
    • Schedule project execution
    • Coordinate purchases and scheduling with Engineering firms, construction contractors, and equipment vendors.
    • Oversee construction/installation as the on-site representative.
    • Confirm and approve project invoices.
    • Maintain and report performance against budget as to amount committed, paid and forecast to complete.

Qualifications:

  • S. Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • 3+ years of Capital Project Management experience either within an industrial manufacturing plant or via an Engineering Design Firm or Construction Firm
  • Experience or knowledge in designing plants, process lines, packaging lines, and infrastructure. Ability to do engineering work such as process flow diagrams, general arrangement, heat and material balances and other process calculations, sizing equipment, pumps, fans, piping and ducts, specifying all equipment and materials required.

  • Base salary to 115k/year depending on amount of direct relevant experience
