Product Development Engineer - Manufacturing - Base Salary to 120k/year - Lancaster, PA
  • Our client, with over 100 years of design, manufacturing and selling of custom solutions for power transmission, motion transfer and conveying applications is seeking a Product Development Engineer for their Lancaster, PA location.  
  • The Product Development Engineer will design new products, manage the life cycle of existing components, lead/support new product development, and provide technical guidance to the Operations team to ensure manufacturability and meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Obtain a deep understanding of product design to ensure the successful development and manufacturability of standard and custom products based on customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Applications Engineers to understand customer specifications and convey critical dimensions to suppliers through drawings or discussions to ensure product quality.
  • Provide engineering support for Supplier Qualification efforts, including product design and quality assurance.
  • Act as a technical resource, conducting research into new areas when necessary and assisting with transitioning purchased parts to in-house manufacturing.
  • Respond promptly to customer requests and lead approved projects through the system to completion.
  • Ensure product manufacturability by working closely with suppliers, manufacturing, engineering, and production teams.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers to resolve design or quality issues; travel may be required to address these concerns.
  • Collaborate with Quality to determine critical inspection dimensions, optimize methods, and address product quality issues.
  • Coordinate and perform testing of new designs to ensure compliance with quality specifications and market regulations.
  • Utilize simulation modeling and work with Lab and Manufacturing personnel to ensure manufacturing needs are met.
  • Manage all documentation for assigned products, including drawings, revisions, and updates to bills of materials, keeping buyers and suppliers informed of the latest revisions.
  • Initiate and lead Engineering Change Requests (ECR) related to product design, quality, or customer feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and lead or support project teams as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent related education and experience) required.
  • Strong ability to verbally communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Proficient in writing formal technical reports and documentation.
  • Ability to understand product design for the successful development and manufacturability of standard and custom products based on customer requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to support product design, quality assurance, and supplier qualification efforts.
