Product Designer - Plastic and Lumber Manufacturer - Base Salary to 95k/year - Aurora, IL
- Our client, a Plastic and Lumber Manufacturer is seeking an experienced and organized Product Designer for their New Product Development team in Aurora, IL.
- In this role, the Product Designer will collaborate with sales, engineering, and other departments to create innovative outdoor products. The ideal candidate will engage directly with customers to gather insights, define product specifications, develop concepts, prototype, test, and oversee the handoff to manufacturing.
- Use 3D modeling software for detailed designs and drawings (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Lumion)
- Creates prototypes, layouts and models for product components, or a manufacturing process using CAE tools.
- Produce protypes to test form, fit, and function.
- Performs analysis to find flaws or inefficiencies in designs and to model solutions.
- Employs CAE tools to enable benchmarking, concept design, prototype development, simulation, and testing protocols.
- Identify tools, equipment, materials, and design techniques.
- Engage stakeholders using sketches, prints, 3D models, and renders while gathering feedback.
- Collaborate with the sales, engineering and production teams while accepting and providing feedback.
- Collaborate directly with customers to develop customized products that meet their specific requirements and specifications.
- Prepare detailed proposals and documentation that outline project specifications, pricing, and timelines.
- Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to showcase features, benefits, and applications to potential customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their technical requirements and challenges.
- Translate research into feasible ideas and designs that will satisfy the market.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Design or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
- 3+ years of experience in product design or similar role.
- CNC and/or plastics manufacturing experience preferred.
- Practical experience using CAD software
- 3D printing
- Creative eye and vision
- Strong project management skills
- Base salary to 95k/year
- Bonus incentive
