Applications Engineer - Industrial Equipment and Plastics Manufacturing - Base Salary to 90k/year - Dundee, IL

• Our client is an industrial equipment manufacturer serving plastics and process manufacturing environments. They are seeking an Applications Engineer to support technical sales, proposal development, system configuration, and project coordination for engineered equipment and system solutions. This role works closely with customers, sales, engineering, service, and operations teams to understand application requirements, recommend technical solutions, prepare proposals, and support projects from inquiry through startup.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with customers and the sales team to understand process requirements, operating conditions, performance expectations, and application needs
• Recommend and configure engineered equipment and system solutions based on customer requirements, technical fit, cost, and application performance
• Support technical sales efforts during customer calls, meetings, and presentations
• Prepare detailed technical proposals including equipment selections, system configurations, scope definitions, bill of material inputs, and technical descriptions
• Revise proposals based on customer feedback, specification changes, and commercial or technical scope updates
• Maintain proposal documentation, revision history, and version control
• Create and maintain accurate CRM records including opportunity details, customer communications, equipment selections, part numbers, and proposal revisions
• Coordinate project handoff from sales to execution by confirming scope, deliverables, timelines, and technical requirements
• Prepare documentation packages required for project execution, installation, and startup
• Serve as a point of contact for customers during order execution, responding to technical questions and providing project updates
• Coordinate with internal engineering, service, operations, and other cross-functional teams to support project timelines and customer expectations
• Support commissioning and startup activities by clarifying scope, addressing technical questions, and communicating field feedback to internal teams
• Identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities related to applications, proposals, and project execution

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’ s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field
• 1+ years of experience in applications engineering, project engineering, sales engineering, technical support, proposal engineering, or industrial equipment environments
• Experience supporting engineered systems, industrial machinery, process equipment, cooling systems, fluid handling systems, or similar mechanical/electromechanical equipment preferred
• Ability to interpret customer specifications, technical requirements, and equipment application needs
• Experience preparing technical proposals, quotations, equipment selections, or system recommendations preferred
• Exposure to project coordination, order handoff, installation support, commissioning support, or customer-facing engineering work
• Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred
• Familiarity with CRM systems and documentation management
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional internal teams
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, proposals, and deadlines at once

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 80k - 90k/year range
• Full benefits package
