Outside Sales Representative - Fire and Security Systems - Total Compensation to 120k/year - Somerset, NJ
  • Our client is a full-service fire protection and security systems provider supporting commercial, industrial, and municipal clients across New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Services include design, installation, inspection, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, suppression systems, access control systems, CCTV/video surveillance, intrusion systems, gas detection, and life safety equipment.
  • This is a field-based Outside Sales role responsible for driving new business and expanding existing accounts throughout Northern New Jersey area, with periodic meetings (twice monthly) in Somerset, NJ. Fire protection industry sales experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities:
  • Generate new business across fire protection and electronic security systems through outbound prospecting and relationship development
  • Sell service agreements, inspections, monitoring, system upgrades, retrofits, and new installations
  • Conduct on-site walkthroughs to assess fire and security systems, identify code compliance gaps, and recommend solutions
  • Prepare and deliver proposals for fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, suppression systems, access control systems, CCTV/video surveillance, intrusion systems, and monitoring services
  • Manage full sales cycle from prospecting through close
  • Maintain CRM activity including calls, meetings, proposals, and pipeline tracking
  • Develop relationships with facility managers, property managers, general contractors, safety/EHS teams, and business owners
  • Coordinate with internal operations, design, and technical teams to scope and execute projects
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable fire and building codes including NFPA standards
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales activity metrics and revenue targets
  • Attend industry events, trade associations, and networking functions to generate leads
  • Travel throughout assigned territory using personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)

Qualifications:
  • Prior sales experience within the fire protection systems industry, required
  • Outside sales experience with responsibility for prospecting, pipeline management, and closing business
  • Experience conducting site walkthroughs, system assessments, or solution-based sales presentations
  • Ability to travel throughout Northern New Jersey area
  • Ability to meet customer site access requirements, which may include background checks or other screenings

Compensation:
  • Total compensation for this position consists of a base salary in the 65k - 75k/year range, plus commission; estimated first year ramp up on target earnings of 110k - 120k/year (expected to increase after year one)
