Outside Sales Representative - Construction - Base Salary to 100k/year - Richmond, VA
  • Our client is a multinational access, scaffolding, and forming/shoring partner to industrial, commercial, and infrastructure customers. A footprint of 340 locations across 25 countries enables safer setups, faster schedules, and tighter cost control on maintenance and capital projects. Their commitment and service help customers maximize productivity and safety on every job site.
  • They are adding an Outside Sales Representative for the Richmond market, focused on motorized access solutions. This field-based role builds pipeline, manages bids, and owns customer relationships, with the opportunity to cross-sell into the full access and shoring product portfolio. The Outside Sales Representative combines technical expertise with business development to deliver tailored proposals and coordinate safe, efficient project execution.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and manage a prospecting plan focused on motorized access opportunities within active and upcoming projects.
  • Develop revenue-producing relationships with GCs, subs, developers, mechanicals, owners, architects, and public agencies involved in projects requiring motorized access solutions.
  • Translate customer scope into motorized access solutions and position equipment for current specifications and foreseeable access needs.
  • Conduct site walks to capture dimensions, reach requirements, constraints, and safety considerations specific to motorized equipment selection and pricing.
  • Partner with sales and construction leaders to compile motorized equipment lists, labor assumptions, site orientations/testing needs, and freight; generate quotations using internal pricing tools.
  • Coordinate contract routing with branch contracts; secure approvals and required documentation.
  • Align with project controls to enable prompt, accurate billing, and capture change orders quickly.
  • Support job start-ups on site to ensure crews have clear deliverables and customers have a single point of contact for motorized access execution.
  • Report weekly activity, wins/losses, and competitive intel to regional and branch leadership; identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities across the full access portfolio.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years selling motorized access solutions (e.G., mast climbers, hoists, or related access equipment); swing stage or scaffold experience considered where transferable.
  • Demonstrated experience estimating access projects, including motorized equipment, and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Excel and construction CRM proficiency (Salesforce preferred) with disciplined pipeline management and forecasting accuracy.
  • Commercial construction experience, with working knowledge of jobsite sequencing, safety requirements, and trade coordination.
  • Hands-on field background or technical foundation in access, equipment, or construction operations strongly preferred.

Compensation:
  • Base salary in the 75k - 100/year range plus commission
