Outside Sales Engineer - Machine Tools – Base Salary to 50k/year – Chicago, IL

  • Our international client provides the most complete array of fabricating equipment from one single source.  They are in search of an Outside Sales Engineer for their Chicago territory.  The territory will cover south of I-80, from Chicago to Des Moines.  Territory is well established and an excellent opportunity for someone to step into and have immediate success.  Candidate will be set up with home office and will work from home.  Candidate will maintain lead follow-up program, maintain relationships with current clients, maintain general paperwork, assist with trade shows, and prepare sales proposals and reports on proposal activity.  This position will be a mix of account management and new business development.  Candidate will be responsible for selling capital equipment ranging in price from $50k to upwards of $1MM. Will also sell service and replacement parts etc. to existing business.


  • Bachelors Degree Preferred – Industrial Engineering Degree ideal
  • Minimum of 3+ years of Industrial sales experience is a must!
  • Ideal candidate will have experience selling capital equipment in the sheet metal fabrication industry. Selling some type of machine tools is a plus.
  • Valid Drivers License required
  • Must have experience working with CRM programs
  • Candidate must be an expert at time management and also have the ability to prioritize prospective accounts to maximize their productivity.


  • Base salary is 50k/year to start, plus commission and a lucrative bonus program. (Opportunity to bump the salary to 55k and then finally 60k after several months with metrics year after certain goals are reached)
