Logistics Manager - Steel Manufacturer - Base Salary to 100k/year - Schaumburg, IL
- Our client, a well-known international steel company, is looking for a Logistics Manager (internally titled Logistics Safety & Quality Manager) to add to the team!
- The Logistics Manager will report to the Logistics & Operations Manager and will work closely with colleagues based in the Netherlands, UK and US to ensure that the safety, health and quality standards are in line with their customers.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for driving initiatives aimed at cost reduction and process improvements to enhance transport safety and quality.
- Develop and manage local H&S policies and their compliance, implementation of a local support for the Zero Harm Logistics program and through chain product quality from the US port to the customer.
- Perform root cause analysis with internal and external stakeholders to resolve safety and quality transport-related incidents and ongoing issues to their desired reconciliation.
- Play a key role in logistics strategy and tactical decision to manage the transport safety and quality network.
- Develop, maintain, and initiate performance monitoring activities to benchmark suppliers, improve performance and support logistics sourcing activities.
- Work with LSP and Terminal operators to develop a joint 1-5 year health, safety and wellbeing roadmap for US port, warehouse , road & rail operations to create, implement and sustain safe processes and healthy environment (**15% overnight travel required)
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Supply Chain experience (preferably in the construction/building envelope space)
- Experience of Logistics, Safety and Quality gained from previous experience
- Knowledge of safety qualifications such as OSHA
- Ability and willingness to travel 15% (some international travel required)
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 80k - 100k/year range plus bonus, and Incredible benefits that start Day 1 (Health, Dental, HSA, Short/Long-term Disability, etc.)
- 401K has up to 8% match
- Very low turnover at this company; people will be retiring in the near future in this department which will allow advance opportunities
