Land Survey Crew Chief - Land Surveying - Base Salary to 79k/year - Rochester, NY

• Our client is an established multi-disciplinary architecture and engineering firm with decades of experience supporting a wide range of civil/site development and land surveying projects. This organization provides surveying services including boundary, topographic, and control surveys across commercial, infrastructure, and development-focused projects.
• The Land Survey Crew Chief position is a primarily field-based role (70– 90%), supporting active project sites throughout the region. The role offers the opportunity to take on field leadership responsibilities, working closely with internal engineering teams and supporting accurate data collection for downstream design and construction efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Perform boundary, topographic, and control surveys across multiple project sites
• Lead field operations, including directing an Instrument Operator and assigning daily tasks
• Operate total stations and GNSS equipment to collect accurate survey data
• Conduct field quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Perform field reconnaissance, including locating property markers and site features
• Ensure compliance with job site safety protocols
• Collaborate with office staff on data transfer and post-project debriefs
• Travel to job sites as needed (70– 90% field-based role)

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on land surveying experience in a field-based role
• Experience performing boundary and/or topographic surveys
• Ability to independently operate total stations and GNSS equipment
• Experience leading or directing field survey crew members
  

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 52k - 79k/year range
• Opportunity to earn New York State prevailing wage rates where applicable
