Junior Construction Estimator – General Construction Company - Base Salary to 80k/year + Bonus - Dallas, TX

• Our client is a highly successful Design Build/General Construction Company that has been a national leader in Industrial and Commercial construction since 1977. Their expertise includes Office, Commercial and Industrial projects, with an emphasis on the transportation industry including trucking, automotive and aviation facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, throughout Texas and across the country.
• They are currently seeking a Junior Construction Estimator with experience bidding and working on ground-up commercial and industrial type projects, to accurately identify scope of work and quantities required to prepare a project estimate, as well as review and analyze subcontractor proposals. Commercial/Industrial construction experience is required. Candidates must live within the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area.

Responsibilities:

• Pre-estimating:
  • Verify bid documents received from owner are accurate and complete.
  • Distribute bid documents to subcontractors.
  • Respond to subcontractor questions.
  • Select and solicit subcontractors.
  • Maintain drawing logs throughout the estimating process.
• Estimating:
  • Perform delegated quantity takeoffs, surveys as required.
  • Setup and build the project estimate and detailed scopes of work for each trade assigned.
  • Input and price quantity takeoffs, surveys as required.
  • Keep abreast of current construction practices, unit costs, and trends.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, city meetings, and client meetings as required.
  • Perform preliminary site investigations as required.
  • Thoroughly review all plans and specifications on bid projects early in the bid process
  • Offer value engineering proposals.
  • Prepare bid qualifications as needed.
  • Solicit bids and value engineering proposals from subcontractors and suppliers.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience estimating ground-up, commercial and/or industrial projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other related fields is a requirement.
• Light industrial Experience – Warehouses, Industrial Buildings, Freight Facilities, and/or Retail
• Ground-up experience.
• Tilt Wall experience
• Knowledge of industry standard principles, designs, and techniques

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 70k – 80k/year range depending on experience.
