Cooling Tower Service Technician - HVAC Services - Base Salary to 38.00/hour - Mountainside, NJ

• Our client, a commercial and industrial HVAC service organization specializing in cooling tower systems, is seeking a Cooling Tower Service Technician to support service, repair, rebuild, and installation projects throughout the NJ and NYC market.
• This role is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and rebuilding commercial and industrial cooling tower systems. The position requires hands-on mechanical experience, the ability to work safely at heights, and experience servicing field-installed HVAC mechanical systems.
• This is a field-based position supporting commercial, industrial, institutional, and mission critical facilities throughout the region.

Responsibilities:

• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial and industrial cooling tower systems
• Execute cooling tower rebuilds and repairs including fill media, drift eliminators, fan assemblies, motors, bearings, gearboxes, structural components, and related mechanical systems
• Diagnose issues involving vibration, water flow, fan operation, mechanical failures, leaks, and overall system performance
• Support installation, shutdown, startup, and emergency service projects
• Lead or assist small field crews on service and rebuild projects
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, and OEM specifications
• Perform rigging, hoisting, and component replacement work safely and efficiently
• Complete service documentation, work orders, inspection reports, and time tracking accurately
• Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures including fall protection, lockout/tagout, and confined space requirements
• Communicate project updates and service findings with supervisors, project managers, and customers
• Travel to customer sites throughout New Jersey and the New York City metro area

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing, repairing, installing, or rebuilding commercial or industrial cooling tower systems
• Experience working with cooling tower manufacturers such as BAC, Marley, Evapco, or similar systems
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience involving motors, gearboxes, bearings, fans, pumps, or rotating equipment
• Experience working in commercial HVAC, industrial mechanical services, cooling tower services, or related field service environments
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and mechanical service tools
• Ability to work at heights, on rooftops, and in physically demanding field environments
• Valid driver’ s license with ability to travel to customer and project sites throughout the assigned service territory
• Ability to safely lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds as needed
• Ability to safely climb ladders, work on elevated structures, and perform work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 34.00 - 38.00/hour range with overtime opportunities
