Field Safety Manager - Heavy Civil and Utility Construction - Base Salary to 130k/year - Bronx, NY
- Our client is a heavy civil contractor that takes on utility, concrete, and sitework projects throughout the New York metropolitan area. Projects range from a few million up to 140 million, and can encompass street construction, pier restoration, utility replacement, shore protection, substation work, etc.
- In this role, the Field Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest safety standards for their job sites. Our client is taking on larger and larger projects and need a heavily certified and experienced candidate who can work on civil and utility projects throughout the metropolitan area (see required certifications below). The Field Safety Manager is primarily in-field with occasional time in the Bronx office.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily job site inspections throughout NYC metro, to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific health and safety plans
- Document audit findings and upload relevant pictures into company safety platform using an iPad
- Identify existing and potential safety exposures and recommend corrective actions
- Lead weekly toolbox talks and provide on-the-job training (OJT) as required
- Conduct accident investigations, prepare detailed reports, and assist the Safety Director in identifying root causes to develop preventative training programs
- Coordinate and deliver specialty training sessions as needed
- Ensure compliance when working with NYC agencies such as The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)
Qualifications:
- 4+ years experience in civil construction field safety
- Knowledge and experience working with NYC MTA projects
- CHST (or equivalent safety certification)
- OSHA Construction Outreach Trainer certification
- 40-hour HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Flagger Instructor Certification (NSC or ATSSA)
- NYC FD COF-F60 Fire Guard for Torch Operations certification
- 62-hour SSTT Supervisor certification
- Track Safety Training for NYCT
- DOT Hazardous Waste Material Certification
- NYC DOB 32-hour Supported Scaffold User certification
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 100k – 130k/year range
