Director of Purchasing - Residential Construction - Base Salary to 140k/year - Dallas, TX
- Our client is a residential homebuilder that was created to foster life-giving relationships to families within their communities. They are currently seeking a Director of Purchasing to join their team.
- The Director of Purchasing will help support the overall strategy of the Purchasing Department and will oversee the operating performance for product development, direct construction costs, and trade partner allocations.
Responsibilities:
- Forecast upcoming demand for trade capacity, products, and suppliers
- Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the bidding function
- Grow and develop new trade relationships to fulfill capacity gaps with existing trade base
- Responsible for understanding trade capacity of all specific trade categories and its impact on the Company's monthly closing commitments
- Recruit and maintain relationships with suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
- Establish new relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adequate resources for all projects and to continually improve pricing and quality of work
- Analyze costs/risks of changes to products specified
- Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepare market analysis report
- Develop and implement new bidding strategies to deliver ongoing cost reductions and process simplification
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as residential construction manager and/or purchasing manager required
- Knowledge of CAD, Planswift, Hyphen, and Newstar preferred
- Proficient knowledge of home building construction process
- Advanced understanding of margin as a percentage of profit and how to impact gross profit by products
- Advanced knowledge of current building materials and costs
Compensation:
- Base salary to 140k/year, plus bonus
- PTO and benefits package
