- Our client, an industry leader in Metals & Recyclables Trading, is seeking a Director of Procurement to help drive supplier acquisition and retention and grow the company
- In this role, the Director of Procurement will be responsible for sourcing new suppliers, managing and distributing pricing, and ensuring timely fulfillment of high quality of materials while working with sales & operations teams to ensure that consumer demand quotas are met on a monthly basis. The Director of Procurement will get the opportunity to shape the direction of our clients’ organization by working with leadership to define procurement strategies, outreach, and goals while interfacing with operations and engineering teams to execute orders, launch new accounts and build amazing new products!
Responsibilities
- Purchase materials to hit quotas for buyer contracts while exceeding margin targets and procuring at the lowest possible spreads to prime indices
- Work with internal platform and finance to determine the lowest-cost scrap streams to achieve the target chemistry for our buyers
- Create and distribute geography, material, and quantity-specific pricing for suppliers Source and onboard suppliers
- Work with Operations to ensure timely pickup and delivery of materials
- Perform regular site visits to ensure consistent material of high quality is delivered
- Hire and manage procurement specialists (buyers) to expand the sourcing footprint
- Manage your team to minimum volume and margin against prime targets for each individual commodity
- Demonstrate the value of the internal platform and onboard suppliers to its functionality
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience procuring scrap from both large suppliers and LTL accounts
- Proven track record in past procurement roles of decreasing cost of goods and exceeding margin targets
- Willingness to travel over 50% Self-starter with a “roll-up your sleeves” mentality and a bias for action
- High comfort level with desktop software and mobile apps
- Bachelor's Degree
Compensation: Includes a base salary up to 175k/year, plus variable incentive opportunity. Our client also offers competitive benefits, unlimited vacation and 401k.
