Director of Distribution - Manufacturing - Base Salary to 180k/year - Chicago, IL 

• Our client, a premier US-based designer, manufacturer, and distributor in their field, is currently in search of a Director of Distribution to join their team in Chicago, IL. 
• The Director of Distribution will oversee all distribution and internal supply chain operations, ensuring that each department achieves or surpasses goals and productivity standards while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining quality standards. 

Responsibilities:  

• Oversee operations for all company distribution warehouses. 
• Ensure efficient, safe, and secure storage of products, minimizing damage through proper handling. 
• Continuously review procedures and warehouse layout to maximize storage capacity and promote safe work methods. 
• Manage Warehouse Inventory, including inventory control, stock levels, and cycle counting procedures, with a focus on results and action plans. 
• Ensure timely and effective order fulfillment while exploring innovative technology and automation solutions. 
• Develop distribution and fulfillment strategies based on customer demand forecasts, collaborating with sales, account management, manufacturing, and finance teams. 
• Establish performance metrics and targets for all distribution facilities and related functions. 
• Identify opportunities for labor reduction and increased output through continuous improvement, aligning with corporate goals. 
• Prevent and mitigate customer fines and penalties related to distribution activities, such as missed ship dates and labeling issues. 
• Contract with freight carriers to deliver products to customers cost-effectively. 
• Ensure compliance with company and OSHA safety policies and housekeeping standards in all Distribution departments. 
• Prepare annual distribution budget and manage costs to meet or stay below budget, seeking cost-saving methods. 
• Ensure employees receive and complete all required company safety and training programs by specified deadlines. 

Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering 
• 7+ years of distribution leadership experience, with over 10 years in distribution 
• Recent experience in shipping to major big box or home improvement stores such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, Walmart, etc.
