Design Engineering Manager – Plastics Manufacturing – Base Salary to 90k/year – Conneaut Lake, PA
- Our client, a well-established Plastics Manufacturing Company, is currently seeking a Design Engineering Manager for their Conneaut Lake, PA area location. This company is focused on creating a positive culture with a tight-knit team.
- In this role, the Design Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the design department and managing projects. This will include leading a small team of design engineers, coordinating project activities, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables, and fostering collaboration between departments.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate to create designs using CAD software
- Manage design projects from inception to completion (time, cost, quality)
- Lead the small design department; collaborate, mentor, evaluate
- Manage department budgets, resource allocation, and capacity planning
- Optimize Designs via engineering analysis, feasibility studies, and simulations
- Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturability) for efficiency and effectiveness
- Evaluate various plastic materials suitable for injection molding
- Identify opportunities for improvement: process, cost reduction, and quality
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation
- Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Participate in design reviews, quality inspections, and testing activities
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related
- Experience in design engineering, preferably in custom injection molding
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other design tools
- Knowledge of plastic materials and their properties; material selection
- Familiarity with DFM principles to optimize designs
- Strong project management skills, including coordinating cross-functional teams
- Effective leadership /team management / communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to conduct engineering analysis and simulations
Compensation:
- Base salary up to 90k/year, flexible depending on candidate experience
