Controller – Mechanical Servicing Company – Base Salary to 120k/year – Martha’s Vineyard, MA

  • Our client, a growing mechanical servicing company on Martha’s Vineyard, is looking for a Controller to provide direction for the accounting functions for the company.  The firm has been around for over 40 years and has a fantastic reputation in the industry. 
  • This is a client who operates as a tight-knit group, always willing to help each other out, and is looking for someone who operates from a “customer first” mentality in order to fit into this culture.

Responsibilities:

  • The Controller will prepare financial reports (to include revenue reports, P&L statements, work-in-progress, etc), handle progress billing, handle day-to-day accounting functions, and prepare and submit sales and use tax returns.
  • At the beginning, the Controller will work in the office with the team, and after you have learned the role, there will be the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required for this role.  Must have extensive knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management, preferably in a trade related field.  Will need a thorough knowledge of all Federal, State, and local requirements regarding financial records, pension, and profit sharing.  Great communication and organizational skills are necessary. 

Compensation includes a base salary up to 120k/year, depending on experience.  The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, 401k, PTO and much more.  Additionally, there are other perks tied to company culture that make it a plus to work for this privately-owned business!

What did you want to be when you grew up:

I wanted to be a teacher. I come from a family of teachers and coaches. I started coaching cheerleading in the ninth grade and while I veered from my path of becoming a math teacher, I am most passionate when I am able to mentor and coach others. At a young age, someone saw skills in me that I did not see in myself, and I love to be able to give that same gift back to others and help them grow their sales careers.

Fun Fact:

When I lived in Louisville, I decided to run the Kentucky Derby Festival Mini Marathon (13.1), having never been more than a 5K runner. I have always felt that running is a great metaphor for life.  Training for that race showed me not only what amazing things my body is capable of, but what mental toughness can, and will, carry you through. My brother, and huge support to me, ran the race with me that day with bands playing, strangers cheering me on, and a chance to run a lap right on the track at the beautiful, historic Churchill Downs. It was an amazing experience (that I have not repeated)!
