Controller – Construction – Base Salary to 120k/year – Red Oak, TX

• Our client, a well-established construction company is currently seeking a Controller for their Red Oak, TX location.  This company is focused on maintaining their culture based on respect, connection and clear communication for their internal team and for their clients. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting functions for a family of companies including inventory, accounts payable, general ledger and financial reporting
• Review, evaluate and implement accounting systems, policies, and procedures
• Ensure all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner within the preset closing schedule
• Prepare and present financial statements and related reports including balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
• Supervise month-end close of the general ledger and monthly balance sheet reconciliations 
• Coordinate annual independent audit and preparation of annual tax returns and filings, including property tax
• Participate in budget preparation, revise budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets
• Provide management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress towards specified financial targets
• Prepare and analyze monthly cost of goods sold entries during month-end close
• Implement new accounting standards and ensures company financial statements are in accordance with GAAP
• Ensure compliance with statutory property tax reporting
• Oversee accounts payable function including compliance with expense reporting, capitalization policy, and purchase order procedures
• Provide backup support for all members of the Accounting team
• Assist with company strategic planning and special projects

• Directly supervise 4-5 accounting employees

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and CPA certification
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP
• 5+ years of Accounting experience either as a Controller of a company with revenue of at least $200 million, or 4+ years of public accounting experience with a Big 4, or large regional firm
• Able to work 100% in the Red Oak office with both strategic and tactical duties
• Proficient in MS Office especially Excel
• Strong customer service (internal & external) skills, effective communication (written and verbal) & ability to resolve issues in a positive manner
• Working knowledge of forecasting and financial reports
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow
• Strong team leadership, collaboration and supervisory skills
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees and confidently present findings to senior leadership

Compensation:

• Base salary to 120k/year depending on candidate experience plus bonus potential depending on market conditions
