Controller – Asphalt Paving Company – Base Salary to 150k/year – Charlottesville, VA
- Our client is a family-owned heavy highway asphalt paving company that prides ourselves on providing superior customer service and putting people first. We work hard and the environment is fast paced, particularly in the paving season (March – November).
- The Controller is responsible for leading and mentoring an experienced administrative team while fostering a professional working relationship with admin and operations teams, supporting professional development and cross-training opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of company finance activities
- Monthly internal financials for two companies
- Maintain and manage depreciation schedules
- Cost accounting reports
- Strategic planning
- Material sales tax reporting
- Payroll reporting for employees in several states
- Regular communication with accounting, banking, insurance, and benefit partners
- Create reports with operations team to improve efficiencies and profitability of field teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or business /or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience in project finance as it relates to construction or manufacturing
- Experience with Viewpoint/Trimble Construction Accounting Software
- Expert in MS Excel and high proficiency with other MS Office products
- Able to communicate complicated and technical points clearly both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of principles of GAAP
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to self-manage
- Commitment to integrity in all dealings
- Valid state driver’s license, clean DMV driving record
Compensation:
- Base Salary to 150k/year
- 401(k) matching minimum of 3%
