Construction Estimator – Retail and Restaurant Multi-Site Remodels – Base Salary to 140k/year – Pomona, CA

With experience across all 50 states and Canada they offer nationwide rollouts, interior and exterior refreshes, open/closed store remodels and more. With a self-performed team of expert craftsmen and project managers they have worked with some of the largest named clients in the country and continue to grow. They specialize in big-box retail, petroleum (gas stations and convenience stores), and quick service restaurants.
• The Construction Estimator will be an essential player on this team in Pomona, CA. We are looking for someone to work on-site in the office and will be essential for helping to generate new business. This person will estimate the total cost of projects both new build and Tenant Improvement. They will be performing take-off’s, organizing and writing scope of work/materials lists with vendors and subcontractors to effectively present and hand off the estimate to the Project Management team. This person must have estimation experience with tenant improvements/remodels in quick service restaurants, big-box retail, or petroleum (gas stations/convenience store) interior projects.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares accurate project estimates and bid proposals, including detailed project takeoffs, budgets, and job costing.
• Prepares construction contracts, subcontracts, change orders and purchase orders.
• Demonstrates excellent computer skills, requiring in depth knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Timberline, and other estimating software, being a plus.
• Oversees and manages each project from estimating to handing the project off to a PM team.
• Ability to create a critical path and/or gantt chart to illustrate and speak to costs and present with bid submissions. Including but not limited to inspections, milestones, and trade alignment.
• Writes, submits, and tracks RFIs as needed on client portals (Lucernex, Procore, ProTrack, Project Mates, Etc.)
• Read plans as needed to support specific trade scope and/or RFI’s

Qualifications:

• Candidates must have a Minimum (5)+ years of estimating experience in one or all of the following:
• Tenant improvement/interiors of big-box retail, petroleum (gas stations/convenience stores), or national chain quick service restaurants
• Must be proficient in the use of Estimating Software (i.e. Estimator360, BuilderTrend, STACK,PROCORE, PROEST, or others)
• Must be able to read and interpret plans, details, and specifications
• Ability to comprehensively explain scope of work
• Experience in sourcing, and vetting out sub-contractors to use for execution
• Experience in negotiating sub-contractor and material costs to right-size bids
• Experience in multi-state estimating as costs fluctuate per market
• Must have experience vetting multiple subcontractors in multiple states
• This position will require up to 30% travel – this person will travel to job sites from 0 to 3 days/week for preconstruction site walks and preliminary kick-off meetings. The rest of the week this person is expected to be in the office in Pomona, CA.
