Construction Estimator – Commercial Construction - Base Salary to 130k/year – Woodbine, MD
- Our client is a GC that operates throughout Delaware, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and south-central Pennsylvania. Specializing in both commercial and government work, they handle both tenant fit outs and ground up construction projects ranging from 500k up to 10 million. They have been around over 25 years, and value their commitment to excellence, innovation, and delivering high quality projects on time and within budget to their customers.
- In this role, the Construction Estimator will work very closely with the Project Management team to bring in new commercial business, with the aim of winning 6 million dollars of work by the end of the year. The Construction Estimator will be an Estimating department of one, so they need an experienced candidate who can work autonomously as well as in conjunction with the PM team, and who can proactively solicit new business. This is an in-office role out of Woodbine.
Responsibilities:
- Crunch numbers with precision and finesse to create accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects
- Leverage existing contacts and network to open up new avenues of opportunity for a growing company
- Collaborate very closely with our GC team and industry professionals to ensure projects are set up for success from the get-go
- Dive deep into project plans and specs to uncover the details needed for precise estimates
- Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers, building mutually beneficial relationships
- Present estimates with confidence and clarity
- Attend industry events, stay up to date on trends and technologies
- Prepare multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting due dates and deadlines for future work
Qualifications:
- 5+ years Estimating at a commercial construction GC
- Experience in tenant fit outs required, ground up preferred
- Experience with hospitality and higher education sectors preferred
- In-depth Estimating software experience required, experience in Viewpoint and ProContractor preferred
- Ability to generate new business
- Ability to work closely with Project Management/GC Team
- Ability to travel to job sites occasionally/as needed
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 115k – 130k/year range

FUN FACT: My fun fact is actually about my brother, we are twins and he is one minute older than me. So at all times there is two of me running around somewhere!
What motivates you? – My favorite quote is from Will Durant summarizing the works of Aristotle that reads, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” My goal in life is to always be better today, than I was yesterday. Not only for myself but for the people I choose to surround myself with. Every day I want to impact someone in a positive light and the consistent habit of excellence is what gets me out of bed every morning.
When did you start selling? – My dad told me once when I was a teenager that “you could sell ice to an Eskimo.” So ever since then I think I’ve had a knack for it. I absolutely love meeting and talking to people so it’s always been a gift I’ve had.
What is your favorite show or shows to binge watch? The Office, Lost, Stranger Things, Blue Bloods (just to name a few). I’m also a HUGE movie person, I absolutely love a good long movie that can draw in your attention and make you think.
