Civil Engineer – Construction – Base Salary to 77k/year – Kalamazoo MI

• Our client is a full-service construction firm with a dynamic team of more than 170 professionals. We analyze, advise, design, and deliver successful projects in partnership with government, commercial, educational, and energy organizations throughout the Great Lakes region. Founded in 1946, our firm has eight locations, including Allegan, Benton Harbor, Hastings, Kalamazoo, Royal Oak, and Southgate, Michigan, as well as Plymouth and South Bend, Indiana.

• The Civil Engineer will provide design and plan production for general civil design on a wide variety of projects which may include site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, as well as municipal infrastructure projects which may include storm, sanitary, water, local roads, site plans, recreational facilities, and associated civil engineering activities. Will perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering calculations in support of civil engineering design projects.
• Perform onsite construction observation or other field verification tasks as needed.
• Perform AutoCAD Civil 3D design/drafting in support of civil engineering design projects.
• Coordinate with necessary government agencies, client staff, and other professionals to obtain design information and approvals.
• Ability to identify engineering and surveying services needed by the client and the ability to draft proposals and estimate fees.
• Write and edit construction specifications and engineering reports.
• Tabulate bid items, calculate construction bid quantities, and construction costs from plan and specifications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Active PE license or ability to obtain within 4 years of employment.
• Proficiency and hands-on experience with computer applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Successfully passed FE examination preferred.
• Ability to plan, schedule work, and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines using discretion and judgment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, surveyors, architects, and technicians.
• 2+ years of experience in construction or civil engineering.

• Base salary in the 48k – 77k/year range
