- Our client is a provider of building demolition and asbestos remediation services in the mid-Atlantic region. From full-scale building demolitions to selective demolitions and asbestos abatement, they adhere to regulatory standards while surpassing expectations. - They are seeking a Chief Estimator to join the team and oversee the estimation process for building demolition and asbestos remediation projects. The Chief Estimator will play a crucial role in accurately assessing project costs, developing competitive bids, and ensuring the profitability and success of their projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the estimation process from project initiation to completion, collaborating with business development, project managers, engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and develop accurate cost estimates.
- Conduct comprehensive cost analyses, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, to determine project budgets and ensure competitive pricing.
- Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals in response to client requests, ensuring compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with projects, such as site conditions, environmental factors, and regulatory compliance, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Evaluate and select vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability, and negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape to inform pricing strategies. Work in collaboration with business development to identify bid opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in estimating, project management, or related roles within the construction industry, with specific experience in building demolition and asbestos remediation projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Proven track record of successfully managing estimation projects, delivering accurate cost estimates, and winning competitive bids.
- Advanced proficiency in various estimating software.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build rapport with clients and stakeholders.
- Leadership experience, including the ability to mentor and develop team members, detail oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 135k - 150k/year range

What motivates you?
A good challenge or competition! Changing people’s lives for the better!
When did you start selling and/or recruiting?
I think I started selling when I came out of the womb. Seriously though, for as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed meeting people, making friends, building relationships, you name it. I can’t think of anything I would rather do than sales and recruiting! There is no greater feeling than matching that perfect candidate with his or her dream job! That makes me happy!
What do you do for fun/spend your free time?
I love sports – coaching, watching, participating (much more when I was younger, of course). I have three boys that keep me very busy, and I have loved coaching them over the past ten years or so. Football, wrestling, baseball, lacrosse, and basketball!
Where did you go to school, college, major?
Towson State University (when it was still called Towson State). Greatest five years of my life. I met my wife, I met my business partner, I met many lifelong friends and I had a ton of fun!
What do you typically eat for breakfast?
Depends. Am I in my “all or nothing” workout phase where it’s a Nutribullet shake with veggies and fruits, or is it the other nine months of the year when it’s whatever I can get my hands on?
Who is your hero?
My dad. He taught me everything I know! I learned how to work hard, how to be a good father, how to be a good husband, how to ride a motorcycle, how to sacrifice everything for those that you love, how to deal with terrible situations and make the best of it, and most importantly, how to never give up!
