Chemist – Silicone Product Development – Base Salary to 95k/year – Lancaster, PA
- Our client, with over 100 years of design, manufacturing and selling of custom solutions for power transmission, motion transfer and conveying applications is seeking an accomplished Chemist for their South-Central Pennsylvania location. The company has a global presence and an exceptional reputation in their industry. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative environment providing technical support with teams that include Research & Development, Quality, Operations, Procurement and Sales.
- For this opportunity, you will need to possess vast experience involving innovation, product development, commercial scale-up, manufacturing trials, testing, silicone-based product development and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Formulating silicone-based elastomers, polyurethanes, and other polymers for customer applications across product lines
- Creating chemical and physical property test standards and specifications for new products
- Experimentally evaluate key technologies and materials that can be leveraged by sales, marketing, NPD, quality, and operations
- Qualifying new raw materials
- Make recommendations to Product Development/Applications regarding processing methods to be used for new products
- Troubleshooting product problems
- Serve as chemistry lead for products and projects needing new formulations
- Supporting Manufacturing and Quality on issues related to current material formulations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; or related discipline and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Lean and Six Sigma certification desired
- Good working knowledge of chemistry, physics, dynamics, materials properties, and statistics
- Operating in accordance with ISO procedures for product development and customer related processes
- Driven, detail oriented, self-starter able to handle challenging technical business needs and opportunities
- Understanding competitive environments in silicone technologies and maintaining awareness of industry trends
Compensation:
- Base salary to 95k/year
