BIM Engineer – Commercial and Industrial Construction - Base Salary to 100k/year – Charlotte, NC

• Our client is a General Construction Firm focused on commercial and industrial building in the greater Charlotte area. • They are currently looking for a BIM Engineer (internally titled VDC Coordinator) for their Shelby and Kings Mountain locations. The BIM Engineers will support project teams and corporate departments in the implementation and use of Virtual Design and Construction tools and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and/or support VDC implementation opportunities in the Marketing, Pursuit, Pre-construction, and Construction phases of a Project.
• Manage and implement project setup process.
• Lead BIM meetings and design or MEP coordination sessions.
• Interact regularly with jobsites and maintain an understanding of project VDC implementations.
• Establish, document, and maintain 3D model coordinates.
• Create 2D and 3D site logistics phasing plans.
• Federate 3D content modeled by others, and model any content not provided.
• Laser scan point cloud integrations with Building Information Models.
• Create, or assist project staff, in creating and maintaining 4D schedules and simulations.
• Assumes responsibility for learning the VDC processes and standards; applies them to assigned projects.
• Reads and comprehends construction documents and applies them to VDC processes.
• Provides models and documents necessary to complete scope determined by VDC leadership and project teams.
• Incorporates design updates into project models.
• Analyzes models, looking for errors and omissions, and makes corrections as necessary.
• Assist project personnel in the implementation of the VDC goals on their projects through training and support.
• Track and report on VDC metrics for each project.
• Facilitate ongoing collaboration among VDC personnel including the sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
• Participate in speaking opportunities within the industry and focus groups.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience in the building industry
• 4+ years’ experience working a BIM or VDC-related role, preferably in the construction industry
• Expert level Software knowledge in one or more of the following: Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, Solibri
• Experience with Trimble ProjectSight and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud
• Familiarity with other BIM tools such as Trimble Sketchup, Civil 3D, 3D Max, Recap Pro, Tekla Structures, Autodesk Point Layout and related tools are also encouraged.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel specifically)
• Experience in BIM process and software training preferred
• Experience in MEP Coordination strongly preferred.
• Willingness to work on active construction project sites

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 50k – 100k/year range depending on experience
