Director / VP of Sales - Rapidly Expanding International Construction Product Manufacturer – Newly Created Role
Our client, a rapidly expanding Canadian based manufacturer based in Winnipeg, has an immediate need for a skilled Business Development leader to help expand relationships and revenues throughout Canada. The Director of Sales, reporting to the President of the company, and as a member of the senior management team, will play a key role in devising and executing on the sales strategy that will increase revenue, expand market share, and drive brand awareness in current key channels and potential new channels. The Director of Sales will also provide direct and indirect leadership to the sales and marketing functions respectively.
Company Info: Our client is a long standing Canadian based manufacturing firm with a strong history of designing and manufacturing high quality construction equipment engineered for tough climates and weather. The company has been in business for over 50 years. Due to recent equity investments, the company is poised for significant growth and expansion, both in Canada and the United States. In terms of the product and industry, the company manufacturers a product that is sold and marketed to the construction market. And while some sales are made to the direct user, a major sale channel is selling to the construction rental equipment market. This is an exciting product with very few competitors in the market. With the recent investment in growth, this is a very exciting time to be involved in this organization.
Position Details: The Director of Sales will manage and grow Canadian sales for this company. This person will ideally work out of the corporate headquarters in Winnipeg, but there is also flexibility to have this person be physically based in Calgary or Edmonton as well. Home location is a bit flexible for the right candidate. In addition to managing and expanding existing relationships within the construction rental industry, this person will also work to develop new prospects and customers, to expand market reach. The company sells their products to the construction market, selling to both end users (contractors and builders and construction companies) as well as a heavy focus to construction rental equipment companies. In addition to the sales aspects of this position, this person will also play a critical role in leading and mentoring the Canadian based sales team. This role will serve as both an individual producer and key relationship builder as well as a Sales Leader, who will be a member of the senior management team, and serve as the company spokesperson at trade shows and industry events, key client meetings, and be the lead of all strategic development and channel development. This person will be involved in market research, setting sales strategies and more. This is a very exciting role for the right sales leader, with a very significant opportunity for career growth.
Compensation: As this is a newly created position, open due to continued expansion of the company, the compensation is flexible depending upon experience. The role will offer a strong base salary. On top of the base salary will be a strong incentive package that could pay as high as 40% of the base salary. In addition, the benefits are solid and will include a car and travel allowance, laptop, cell phone and much more.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a College Degree and at least 10 years of business to business sales success, a history of establishing and growing key customer accounts and relationships, and some leadership experience. Our client would prefer a candidate that has experience selling for an industrial or manufacturing company. Previous contacts in the construction rental industry is a very strong plus. As this candidate will be handling a larger territory and travelling throughout Canada and potentially the US in the future, the ability to travel quite a bit is a must.
