Shop Manager - Commercial / Industrial Trucking - Second Shift. Regional Provider of Construction Materials. Northern Philadelphia, PA.
Our client, a leading regional provider of a line of construction materials, has an immediate need for a skilled Shop Manager for their 2nd Shift, to be based out of their Northern Philadelphia area headquarters. In this role, the Second Shift Shop Manager will report to the Fleet Manager. As a summary, this person will be fully responsible for all the shop operations during the second shift. Specific duties include: Oversee all personnel and activities in the shop, ensuring all work is done properly, efficiently, and to company standards; promote teamwork; ensure proper work conditions are maintained; train employees as needed; Set priorities and schedule the work to be done; coordinate with Operations all work to be done; Issue repair orders for all work performed by shop personnel; Dispatch mechanics to service equipment on road and monitor radio to provide directions, troubleshooting guidance, and problem solving; Maintain files of maintenance and repair records. This also includes all DOT paperwork; Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations; Monitor and purchase parts inventory to ensure the proper parts and supplies are available when needed. Check-in parts order to verify accuracy of order; Interact with outside vendors, and parts distributors; Ensure that all company safety regulations and policies are followed at ALL times; notify Safety Director immediately of any potential or current safety problems; Oversee housekeeping the shop area and all tools, shop vehicles, and equipment neat, clean, and in good repair.
Requirements for this role include a high school diploma or equivalent, a Class A CDL license, welding and fabrication skills, a PA State Inspection License (Series 7), 5 or more years of heavy equipment and automotive repair experience, and more. Preferred, though not required, are a mechanical school certificate and ASE certification.
